DIY Water gauge

This a project is for a friend was concerned about how much water was in her cistern.  I decided to use a rangefinder to measure the water level and then email this value.  I also 3D printed a case for the Raspberry Pi.

This is currently a work in progress.

Nice project! Maybe add SMS alert for low levels. I had a beaglebone setup with a servo to open my garage door if my phone entered a radius of 1000′ of my house. Basically, I could see he garage door start opening as I was driving towards the house.
